Michelle Travers

Co-Author of Stan, Fran and Ned: An Early Decodable Chapter Book

Michelle is an elementary school teacher with over 22 years of experience in Barrie, Ontario. She is passionate about helping students deepen their love of reading, guiding them beyond the written words to make meaningful global connections and apply lessons from texts to their everyday lives.

Michelle has also collaborated with Mel as an editor, where she discovered a love for refining stories, especially the Stinky Puppy Adventure series. This experience has inspired her to pursue her own writing, with a focus on creating heartfelt stories that explore character development, conflict and enduring themes.

As a mother to Briar and Cooper, Michelle has shared her love of reading from the very beginning, treasuring memories of reading to them even before they were born, and continuing those moments side by side with a book in their laps. One of her favourite memories is sitting on the floor of Chapters with Briar, laughing together over the Fancy Nancy series. Another fond memory is reading all the Harry Potter series together over two years and watching both Briar and Cooper’s faces grow with excitement as each chapter progressed.
